Asda claims to be offering the country's best-value Christmas dinner at 11 pounds a headA supermarket chain is claiming to offer the country's "best-value" Christmas dinner at a credit-crunching £11.
Asda says its dinner of turkey, vegetables, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, stuffing and a pudding will feed a family of six for that price - or £1.83 a head.
To make its point the chain has teamed up with Andy Park - also known as Mr Christmas - who is notorious for celebrating Christmas every day of the year.
Mr Park, 44, from Melksham, Wiltshire, will be delivered one dinner every day for a month running up to December 25.
In return he will use his festive knowledge as the firm's "Christmas consultant".
The electrician says he has eaten a full Christmas meal every lunchtime for the last 15 years, spending an average of £20,000 annually.
Since 1994 Mr Park has eaten a 5,475 turkeys, 100,804 mince pies, 5,475 Christmas puddings, 126,000 sprouts and pulled 219,000 crackers with his dog Sky.
Asda believes it can save Mr Park around £1,300 a month with the meal.
Halli O'Neill, from Asda's food innovation team, said: "We are happy to help Mr Christmas out this year with our low-priced Christmas dinner. Hopefully this will give him a little extra festive cheer. Our dinner offers Christmas dinner with all the trimmings."
Mr Christmas said: "When you celebrate Christmas every day, they can all start to blend into one, but Asda have made this a Christmas I will never forget - my house is like a winter wonderland."
